Ranges Ulysses
We welcome you to the website of the Yarra Ranges Ulysses.Yarra Ranges Ulysses
was initiated in early 2003 by Whittlesea Ulysses members as it was felt
there was a large gap in the geographical area between Whittlesea, Shearwaters
(Cranbourne) and Melbourne and our branch was formally recognised at the June
2003 Natcom meeting. Eligible new members and existing Ulyssians are most welcome
to attend any of our functions.
Rides
We have a passion for riding motorcycles and the Shire of Yarra Ranges contains
some of Victoria's best scenery and motorcycle roads. Towns like Healesville,
Mansfield, Warburton and Yea also provide some great eating places. Rides leave
from Yarra Glen or alternativley advertised departure points, our Ride Calendar is kept up to date and can be viewed on the Rides
page of the website.
Social
We are also a very social group and currently meet at the Brunch Cafe, Eastwood Plaza, 102-106 Canterbury Road,Kilsyth South 3137 for Saturday morning coffee
each Saturday morning. All Ulysses members and there families are welcome to attend our friendly
social evening, held in the Bistro of the Chirnside Park Country Club,
usually on the 4th Thursday of the month, we generally have a section set aside for ourselves, For these details and other social activities see our Social
page.
Welfare Officer
Welfare Officer’s role in the Ulysses Club : As you know our club motto is “Grow Old Disgracefully”. However, in the process of doing this some club members may for a variety of reasons experience difficult times. One of the fundamental values of the Ulysses Club as stated by the National Committee is: “ To provide ways in which older motorcyclists can get together for companionship and mutual support. ”It is therefore important that as a club we provide whatever support we can to those members who are experiencing distress or difficult times. In order to achieve this goal we as club need to:
A: Be aware, or be made aware of members who might benefit or be assisted by club support. This can be funnelled through the Welfare Officer (currently Don Napier ) or any other committee member.
B:The Welfare Officer in consultation with the committee will determine the appropriate support and where possible provide such support. This may be a simple phone call, get well card, flowers, or in more serious cases organising home or hospital visits. We can support our fellow members in a variety of ways.
C:If appropriate the Welfare Officer may keep the members updated on issues via the web, however, this may not occur in every case.
So should you be aware of a fellow member who you feel would benefit from some club support, don’t hesitate, let us know and we will certainly try to provide some cheer and support. Our Current Welfare Officer is Don Napier.Don may be contacted via email at don.napier@yarrarangesulysses.org or phoning 0417 353005.
